Living Tinctures represent the leading edge in an ancient healing art form. The highest quality raw herbs are brewed and extracted at our clinic overlooking Cobb Mountain and The Sacred Mountain of Attention, in Northern California. There is no better place on earth to make medicine.

The formulas are based on both traditional and modern experience, and their effectiveness has been proven over and over again in a clinical setting. They are safe and most effective when used in conjunction with an intelligent and sensitive healing regime. They can be incorporated into any wellness regime in order maintain health and rejuvenation, or they can be used in those emergency situations when the body is deeply out of balance.

Living Tinctures are made according to the standards found in traditional British herbal medicine - a 1:5 extraction in 35 per cent medical ethanol.
The tincturing process removes trace amounts of the heavy metals, and bacteria that are now found everywhere in our planet’s soil. They are the safest way to take herbs today. The formulas may be dropped into hot water and allowed to stand for a minute or two, for those who prefer to take them as a tea without alcohol.

Individual herbs are brewed for at least 30 days. Individual herbs are extracted over one lunar cycle and then hand pressed.

Therapeutic and regenerative doses range from a low of thirty drops, two times per day for maintenance, to fifty drops three times per day for full effect. They may be taken at even higher doses when there is professional monitoring available.

Like homeopathic medicines, Living Tinctures retain the energetic patterning of the original plant substance along with part of the naturally occurring nutrient material. They are powerful additions to any rejuvenation regime.

Just drop the formula into water several times per day. Use the lower dose for prevention and maintenance and the higher dose to treat more pronounced imbalances.

AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: The Divine Spirit is not afraid of death. Therefore, if you Commune with the Divine Spirit, if you are really intimate with the Divine Spirit in this present moment, then the body-mind’s reactivity to death relaxes. The more profoundly you enter into Divine Communion, the less you associate with the tendencies of the body-mind. Death can be easy in that case. If you are entered into the Divine Spirit in the process of death, then the body will go through the natural process of death without aberrating your consciousness. Death will be natural, easy surrender. There will be no clinging and no fear.

Death should be, and in general can be, easy, natural in this sense. But, if death is to be easy, you must be linked to the Divine Reality that Transcends the body-mind. Otherwise, if you are simply identified with the body-mind and contracting, you are, as a matter of course, going to awaken in fear at the point of dying, and you are going to awaken in many other emotions and reactions that will determine your destiny after death.

The Living One, the One Who Is Alive, the One with Whom you are truly Identical, does not need a body-mind, is not afraid of releasing the body-mind, is not associated with a body-mind that is programmed to die and that is gradually self-destructing. Just as annual plants self-destruct in one cycle of the seasons, so death is built into the body-mind. But the Divine Self is not afraid of this program. It is completely Free of all the implications of this dying.

The persona that is constructed upon the basis of identifying with the body-mind, contracting as the body-mind, is out of synchronicity with the Divine Freedom and Purpose. And so this persona is afraid. There is the Transcendental Divine Self-Condition, and there is the body-mind in all the mechanics of cosmic Nature, and then there is this persona, this “I”, which is totally out of sync with both the body-mind and its Ultimate Source-Condition. You, as the “I”, or the persona, are not only out of sync with the Divine Self-Condition. You are also out of sync with the body-mind, because the body-mind does not want to live forever. You want to live forever. The persona wants to live forever.

The Way of the Heart is not the Way to get in sync with the body-mind, but it is the Way to get in sync with the Transcendental (and Inherently Spiritual) Divine Being. To do so will also cause the persona to relax and to enter into unity with the body as equanimity, the sattvic condition that expresses Communion with the Divine Self-Condition. Then you will go through the life-cycle in a balanced state, with the persona, or the reactive ego, relaxed and the body-mind in a state of equanimity. Your characteristics will become those of the Living One, the Self-Existing and Self-Radiant Divine Being, and fewer and fewer of the characteristics of the persona will appear. Over time, they will gradually disappear, and the body-mind will go through its inevitable destiny naturally, free of its changes while alive and free also in the death process, as in going to sleep or in meditation. You will simply be entering into a profound state of unity with the Divine Being.

Death is truly such Samadhi, but you live--or die--death as the ego, the persona, the “I”, and so you do not feel it to be Samadhi. You do not feel that its implications are the same as those of profound meditation and Ultimate Samadhi. You feel death is an ending, a loss, a threat. Such a psyche only expresses dissociation from the Living One.

Therefore, while alive, enter into the Baptism of Communion with My Spiritual (and Always Blessing) Presence and understand this persona and relax it, allow it to enter into a unified state with the body-mind, so that the body-mind exists in a state of equanimity, and live in Divine Communion perpetually, so that the characteristics of the Living One, which are the characteristics of Divine Samadhi, or Divine Being, become your characteristics. In that case, then, death is easy death. Death has its native form, which is simply the Divine Being’s relinquishing a particular mechanism and not losing anything in the process.

Your consciousness must become one with this Divine Reality. You must magnify your association with That, enter into Communion with That, rather than reinforce the persona, or the egoic tendencies of attention. In this way you prepare yourself for death, but you also live well. You live in wisdom. And if you have lived a lifetime in this wisdom, then death will certainly become a profound event, not different in kind from profound meditation.

Avatar Adi Da Samraj loves all living beings. He acknowledges the multitude of non-humans to be deeply conscious and contemplative beings who are worthy of the same love and positive regard as any human being. He Calls everyone to the fundamental understanding that all beings and things inhere in the Divine Reality. Avatar Adi Da has established Fear-No-More Zoo as a means of extending His Vision of deep respect for the contemplative and Spiritual existence of all beings.

AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: If you are going to bring animals into your sphere and take them out of theirs, you have to make some sort of arrangement with them in which they have the potential, through their contemplative life, to be just as happy as you want them to be. But in that process of sensitizing yourself to non-humans and placing no barriers between yourself and them, you have to go beyond your previous mind about non-humans as sort of “non-beings”.
—January 1996

Many people wonder what to do when their pet, or another animal, is very ill and dying. How can we best serve an animal through this aspect of its life-process? Although much of Avatar Adi Da’s Wisdom in Easy Death is applicable to all beings, there are some unique points to consider about serving the death of animals, and whether euthanasia is appropriate.

The following guidelines (based on Avatar Adi Da’s Instruction) are offered here by Stuart Camps, the director of Fear-No-More Zoo.

Serving the death and dying process in animals:

When an animal begins to enter the death process, there are some simple things that we can do to assist and support the animal. Because of their already deep level of contemplation, most non-humans have much less difficulty than humans do with releasing themselves into and through the death process. Consequently, they usually need much less help than most people do. Sometimes the best help we can give them is to simply leave them alone. Set them up in a comfortable, safe, quiet place and allow them their space. Once the death process is underway, and soon after the death has occurred, minimize physical contact with the animal. At this point, physical contact--although perhaps reassuring to the grieving person--can become disturbing and distracting for the one who is involved in the actual process of letting go of the body.

If it is a natural death, whether through old age or a long illness, hopefully you will have had time to express your love and gratitude to your animal friend well before the actual death process is fully underway. Both leading up to and at the time of death, it is most helpful to the animal if you too have come to the point of acceptance, release, and letting go. In your feeling, allow the animal to freely relax its attachment to the body. Because many animals form such strong loyalties toward the humans they love, if they feel that you are not ready for them to die they may resist letting go, and may also “linger” after death, all of which compromises their ability to transition smoothly. One of the main difficulties they might experience in the death process is the attachment of human friends who have not learned to let go and free their animal friend to move on. This is an important point. As your animal friend is dying, talk with your human friends for the emotional support you may need.

Pain medication, antibiotics, and other supportive veterinary care practices can be used to good effect for the dying animal’s comfort and relaxation. Consult your veterinarian on these matters.

For devotees of Avatar Adi Da, anointing the animal with holy water and sacred ash from one of the Sanctuaries of Adidam is suggested. You might also bring fresh flowers to the dying animal, as flowers represent a simple understanding of the cycle of living and dying. When in the dying animal’s company, Invoke Adi Da Samraj, and put your attention on Him, rather than upon the transitioning individual in front of you, or upon yourself. Turn your feeling to Adi Da Samraj and release any negative emotion. The death of another is a profound lesson for each of us.

After death, let the body rest in place for twelve to twenty-four hours and then bury or cremate. It also serves to do a simple burial ceremony on the body or ashes. Take up all the animal’s “belongings"--bedding, bowls, leashes, toys, and so forth. Clean them all and put them away. All of this helps make conscious and tangible the process of fullest release. Meditate more. Go on retreat. Use what you have just seen and felt to become a more serious and happy human being.

Serving wild animals:

If you come across a wild animal who has been mortally injured or killed, it is fine to offer help, so long as you are extremely careful not to get hurt (bitten, kicked, butted, and so forth). Help given to a dying wild animal should usually be very simple and brief. Wild animals are not used to human contact. If they have been mortally hurt or just recently killed, they are already dealing with a lot. An unfamiliar human presence around them can be very disturbing. There they are, in pain and shock, faced with the death process that is coming over them, and then they have to deal with their inbuilt fear response toward people. If one is not very sensitive to this, even well-intentioned help might represent more disturbance than support. If the animal is injured on a roadway, you can calmly, and as gently as possible, move the animal off the road and into the bushes somewhere nearby and then leave it alone to die quietly and undisturbed. (You might also consider calling a trained professional about euthanasia--see discussion below.)

Wild animals do not need human help through the actual death process. Their inherent Spiritual sensitivity has already prepared them well for it. Simply let them be. Later, go back and deal with the body in an appropriate way, or notify the relevant authorities about the carcass.

Eighty five percent of women suffer from hot flushes (or flashes) during the menopausal transition, making it the most commonly reported symptom in this change of life. The severity of the symptoms depends to a large degree on a womanÕs dietary and lifestyle history. Approximately fifty per cent of the women, who do endure hot flashes, will experience them, to one degree or another, for five to ten years after the cessation of the period.

Western medicine understands hot flushing to be a sign of estrogen deficiency, and for over forty years now the established approach has been to treat Òthe disease of menopauseÓ with synthetic hormones. The idea that menopause is a disease was specifically created as a marketing strategy and is patently absurd. Even so many women have reported that hot flushing seems to be the one symptom that HRT actually effects. The problems with hormone replacement therapy are becoming more and more well known, and consequently women who do suffer from hot flushing and menopausal nightsweats are looking for effective and safer approaches.

Traditional Chinese Medicine views menopause as the natural transition that leads a woman from the reproductive to the non-reproductive time in her life. At this age, hot flushing and nightsweats are caused in almost all cases by a deficiency in the kidneys. One who suffers such imbalances should understand that both diet and emotional stress will have a big impact on these symptoms. Worry, anxiety, and fear can weaken and even damage the liver which over time can deplete the kidneys even more, thus increasing the severity of the hot flushing. Junk foods, the wrong protein to carbohydrate balance, and too many sweets will elevate blood sugar levels, increase internal inflammation and only add to the severity of the flushing and sweats.

The fundamental approach of Traditional Chinese Medicine at this stage of life is to tonify and replenish the depleted kidney essence with natural substances that most closely resemble the ones in our bodies. Herbal medicine is truly natural medicine, most effective for replenishing kidney essence. Over the counter formulas based around Black Cohosh are effective in less severe instances of hot flushing. More severe cases usually involve deep kidney deficiency with secondary imbalances in the liver and heart that can exacerbate anxiety and impair sleep. Such people will get best results from an essence rich formula that specifically addresses their particular imbalance. Such formulas can be used in conjunction with HRT, if one so desires. Woman can, however, switch over to an herbal formula, eliminate HRT gradually over time, and in most cases be symptom free in approximately two months.

From time to time, women may experience patterns of heavy bleeding. The blood cycle is effected by lifestyle. Therefore stress, worry, excitement and even certain foods (usually hot, spicy and sweet foods) can cause brief bouts of heavy bleeding in women. Brief changes in the blood flow are not a cause for concern. Lasting patterns of excessive bleeding, however, such as: heavy and extended menstrual flows, bleeding outside the usual menstrual pattern and even extended times of spotting, are clear indications to practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine, that there is a significant hormonal imbalance. Such imbalances should be addressed before they lead to further problems.

The most common cause for heavy bleeding is too much heat in the blood. This means that the body is generating internal heat inflammation and the blood is absorbing some of that heat. Like water the blood will become agitated as it heats up and it may begin to flow outside of its proper pathways. In such cases any pertinent lifestyle issues should be addressed and some form of alternative medicine should be used to clear the heat inflammation.

In some women however, the heat is being created by a deficiency of cooling bodily fluids and hormones. Many times heavy bleeding will appear along with hot flushes in women approaching menopause. In most cases the hot flushes and the bleeding will disappear when the deficiency is addressed.

The most difficult type of heavy bleeding to treat is that caused by large fibroids which can press up against and through the endometrium. In such cases the bleeding is being caused by a functional change in the uterus. Fibroid induced bleeding is a pattern that takes time to develop and so it also requires time to change. Many times the bleeding becomes so severe that women have to resort to a surgical remedy. Therefore women should remain sensitive to their bodies and address hormonal imbalances early. If fibroids do develop, they should be treated as early as possible. Small fibroids should be shrunk before they become too large and problematic.

Since the beginning of time man has turned to his environment for medicines. Plants, minerals and even certain animal products all contain powerful healing substances.

The key to the effective application of herbal medicine begins with the correct diagnosis of the exact imbalance. An experienced clinician knows that most people show an array of conflicting imbalances. One organ may require warming while another needs cooling. The direction of alternative medicine in the West has tended toward the mass marketing of general formulas, which people buy directly off the shelf. Herbal medicine, however, is most effective when the formula is conformed exactly to the person.

The body possesses a powerful healing and regenerative chemistry that awakens under the right conditions. This healing chemistry is secreted by the endocrine system when the body is brought into proper balance. A complex herbal formula consisting of eight to fifteen ingredients can treat all the organs simultaneously and help to bring the body into such regenerative balance.

These herbal prescriptions can be used at home and they are taken several times per day, so it is easy for the client to maintain the treatment. Complex herbal prescriptions can be primary forms of therapy or a powerful healing adjunct for almost any condition. The secret lies with a proper diagnosis of the imbalance, and the right combination of herbal elements.

GIVE THE FORMULA TIME TO WORK AND FIND YOUR PROPER DOSE

A pattern of imbalance, is a literal force in the body. The longer it has been in effect, the more resistant it will be. The force of harmonization must be equal to and greater than the imbalance and it must be sufficiently sustained to have an effect. When balance is achieved the body will heal itself.

The right formula must be determined and used and until the pattern has shifted. Each person must experiment with the correct dose for his or her body type and condition. Dietary and life style corrections should be made in order to magnify the regenerative response in the body. It is best to check in after a course or two in order to refine the details of your healing regime.

The excess energy and hormonal activity of a youthful body, are most forgiving. But after fifty, one must get smart and disciplined in order to ensure high quality and healthful future years.

Classical Chinese Medicine observes aging to be a process in which the yang consumes the yin. The “yang” pertains here to the energy of action and activity. From the moment of our birth we are active crawling, walking, working, playing, thinking, creating. Life is an active process and the yang force is like the combustion in a car, the warm kinetic energy that moves us. Whereas the yin pertains to all the moist, flowing, liquid life essences that hydrate, cool and nourish the body. Like our automobiles, if the coolant gets low, the fire can damage the essential machinery. In addition, yin essence is critical to energy production. So the law of aging is essentially telling us that over time, the fire of life activity begins to consume the moist cooling essences which then leads to exhaustion and old age.

One of the simplest ways to refresh and restore the diminishing essences of life is to supplement them with those uniquely regenerating substances found in nature. If supplements are to be truly effective one must determine the various levels of deficiency in the body, the health of each particular organ and then prescribe accordingly. Just as the need for particular foods varies from person to person, so also with supplements. Supplements must address the actual deficiencies and imbalances to have the desired effect.

Practical steps can also be taken to slow down the aging process. Modern westerners tend to lead active and stimulated lives. Yet the greatest regenerative response takes place in extended periods of deep meditation, a deep yin condition. In Ancient esoteric rejuvenation regimes, best results came when the powerful herbal formulas were offered in the context of profound retreat. So active westerners must learn the art of deep relaxation, meditation and even Divine contemplation.

Diet, exercise and right supplementation are critical at this age. Blood sugar levels must be controlled since sugars tend to increase inflammation. Proteins and carbohydrates must be balanced for right health, and the glycemic levels of particular foods should be observed. The blood type diet, metabolic diet, and the zone diet are systems that offer the individual a conscious and considered approach to healthful eating. Without turning these diets into a fetish, they can be useful guidelines.

Exercise promotes the movement of energy, air, blood, and lymph throughout the body at an age when the circulatory pathways are beginning to narrow and close. Regular exercise stimulates decreasing hormonal activity and actually increases the reserves of yin essences. Energetic systems like yoga, tai chi, and qi gong are immensely supporting of rejuvenation since they can directly stimulate the basal metabolic process when properly performed.

For women, hot flushing is the most common symptom of aging. By the time she reaches her late forties the yin essences are significantly decreasing. So the essence gets low and women begin to heat up. In allopathic medicine, such symptoms are currently understood to be a sign of estrogen deficiency. At a certain point, the body, understanding that the cooling yin substances are getting low, turns off the monthly blood flow in order to slow the loss over time. This will preserve those essences for the sake of longevity. From the classical oriental perspective, the cessation of the menstrual “water” is not a disease but a change that ultimately serves longevity.

No doubt, we all like to self medicate, and there is every reason to assume responsibility for our own health, but even so, it is best to use some kind of diagnostic modality to determine exactly what you need. When one pays particular attention to the yin essence and adrenal fire and gets the details of that balance correct, the effect can be truly amazing.
